Sports Massage

Sport Massage generally includes a range of manual therapy techniques including tissue warming through long, light and progressively firmer strokes (effleurage), tissue stimulation and manipulation (petrissage) and specific, focused and sustained pressure applied to tissue (trigger point therapy).

The intent of these techniques are to:

  • Improve blood flow and circulation

  • Improve lymphatic flow (the waste products)

  • Stimulate and modulate the nervous system to create local and whole body changes

  • Improve flexibility and contractibility of muscles

  • Assist in mental preparation for performance
